Terms of Use
Last updated: October 8, 2026
By using Nellie Alert you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app.
What Nellie Alert is
Nellie Alert lets neighbors share sightings of coyotes, dangerous animals, lost pets and stray animals, and sends alerts to people nearby. Sightings are posted by other people and are not checked by us before they appear. Alerts may be delayed, missed or inaccurate.
Nellie Alert is not an emergency service. If a person or animal is in immediate danger, call 911 or your local animal control.
Your account
You need an account to post sightings, flag sightings and receive alerts. Keep your sign-in details private. You are responsible for what is posted from your account.
Community rules: zero tolerance for abuse
There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. When you post, you agree that you will not:
- post false or misleading sightings, spam or advertising;
- post content that is hateful, harassing, threatening, sexual, violent or otherwise offensive;
- post personal information about other people, such as addresses, phone numbers or photos of people;
- encourage harm to animals or people;
- try to misuse, overload or break into the app or its systems.
Anyone can flag a sighting, and sightings flagged by several people are hidden automatically. You can also hide all posts from a person. We review flagged content and will remove content that breaks these rules, normally within 24 hours, and we may suspend or remove the accounts of people who post it.
Your content
You keep ownership of the sightings and photos you post. You give us permission to store, display and share them in the app and in alerts to other users so the service can work. Only post photos you took or have the right to share.
Safety
Don’t approach wild or aggressive animals to take a photo or report a sighting. Follow local laws and the advice of animal control.
No warranty and limitation of liability
The app is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. To the extent allowed by law, we are not liable for any loss or harm resulting from the use of the app, including relying on or not receiving a sighting or alert.
Ending use
You can stop using the app and delete your account at any time in the app’s Settings. We may suspend access for anyone who breaks these terms.
Changes
We may update these terms. If we make significant changes, we will let you know in the app. Continuing to use the app means you accept the updated terms.
